Weekend Wedding

Mark and I attended a wedding this past Saturday for a co-worker of mine. She was a beautiful bride and her new husband is just as fabulous. We had a great time at the reception. It's been a few years since attending a wedding of a twenty-something bride so there were a few new reception ideas that I thought were kind of neat. The first was a martini potato bar. You served yourself your choice of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes or purple mashed potatoes and then there was a huge choice of toppings. People were having fun creating their "martinis." Very interesting!
The other treat was a "candy bar" which I had heard of before. The bride and groom supply a monogrammed bag and you fill it with candy treats as you leave the reception. Great idea!

Beauty Time for Baby

Baby gets hair blowdried. (Baby doesn't care that she has no hair.)

Caroline brushes Baby's dry hair.

Caroline waves magic wand over Baby's head (I wonder if that's an additional charge?)

Caroline asks "Baby, do you like it?"

Caroline has Discovered Chapstick

Caroline found my chapstick. Needless to say, it's hers now.

Taking off Baby's clothes -- again

It STILL seems that Caroline's favorite activity these days is taking off her clothes and her baby's clothes. Here are some pictures taken the other day of Caroline with Baby. She thought Baby needed a diaper change (she doesn't remember that Baby never had a diaper on in the first place). Oh well. She wipes Baby's bottom with a wipe. Then, if it's needed, she might pretend to put cream on Baby's bottom. This time, she decided to forgo the diaper (although a clean one was there and handy) and moved right onto trying to put on "babyjammas". Oh, the trouble she has putting on those babyjammas. She finally is able to put on the pants, but can't seem to figure out the top just yet. The fun things we shall be learning....

Mother's Day Tea

Mom, me, and Nina

Pretty antique hat

We had our 5th Annual Mother's Day Tea at church last Saturday, the 9th. It's always a lot of work for everyone in our women's circle, but we all enjoy it in the end. We have over 100 women attend each year and have a different theme. This year it was "hats" and we had a great speaker, Pat Crenshaw, who was hilarious! She presented a one-woman show of hat tricks and melodies. I think everyone enjoyed her performance.

I host a table each year and always have two very special guests attend with me: my mother and Nina, my dear friend. Here's a picture of a place setting at my table. I change it each year 'cause I don't want the ladies to get bored sitting at my table!

Celebration!

Mark got to play his "fiddle" with a hootenanny-style band on the Friday the 8th. We were invited to a birthday party/anniversary party for a couple from church. It was hosted by their daughters at one of their homes. Charlie and Bea both turned 90 years old and have been married for 61 years! What a celebration! We had yummy food and cake and other goodies outside and then came in towards the end of the evening for the music.

Charlie is pictured here with Mark after they finished playing. (Charlie loves playing his electric guitar--yes, electric guitar) and Mark really enjoys playing with him.

I hope I'm as spry as Charlie and Bea when I'm 90. Below is a solo Mark played that evening. He's not very proud of his playing, but I think it's fun.

"I Mont Yo-Burr!"

Caroline's latest stunt is undressing herself -- completely. Here she just undressed herself and then returned to the kitchen to demand more yogurt. She loves that yo-burr.

Tippy Toes, Tippy toes

Things used to be safe on our countertops, but now that's changing. Caroline has discovered the footstool (or anything she can stand on) to get a look at things on the counters. This picture is actually in the bathroom at the sink. She loves to play with the water and the faucet. Maybe she'll be a ballet dancer...
