Peder's Detective Birthday Party

For Peder's birthday party we went to the Museum of Nature and History at Fair Park. It was AWESOME! The lady at the museum got the party started by having the kids make their own fingerprints. Then she said that a priceless item had been stolen from the museum. The kids have to solve the mystery through a series of clues left all over the museum. Peder really got into it and was yelling to the kids "Come on, guys, let's go!". After the mystery was solved, we had time for cake.

I gave the picture to the cake lady and they made this. Not too bad, I think. At least better than
I would have done. On the top right is a magnifying glass. On the bottom left is a gloved hand (use your imagination). The other black things all over the cake are footprints. Peder also wanted "Case Closed" on the cake.



Happy Birthday at Zion

I went to Peder's school to bring birthday treats. Here he is with his fabulous teacher. This will retire this year so Peder was lucky to have her.

Caroline turns 3!

We drove to Georgetown to visit my parents during Spring Break. While we were there, we celebrated Caroline's birthday. Grandma made a special clown cake for Caroline. It's the same kind of cake she made for me on my 2nd birthday. I think Caroline liked it as she couldn't wait to get her fingers in the cake! My brother and Mark's brother stopped by too, since they both live nearby.

Happy 8th Birthday Peder!

Peder turned 8 on May 31st and to celebrate we had a super scientist birthday party complete with a "real" scientist (hey, he knew more than I did!). The kids made slime, played with black lights, and worked some chemical experiments that wowed both the kids and adults alike. Then we sat down for some cookie cake and made cotton candy to take home.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Peder and Mommy made a cake for Daddy! I think Peder enjoyed it more than any of us. Any excuse to eat cake. Daddy is older than one candle, but we didn't have enough candles to represent his age! Happy Birthday Daddy! When you blew out the candle, what was your wish??

Spring Break!

Well, I'm long overdue for a post. I've had several comments from people wanting more pictures. What a perfect time to start posting again since we are visiting my parents at their new home in Georgetown! Since arriving here on Sunday, we've enjoyed the beautiful spring weather. Peder has been able to go swimming in the indoor swimming facility here in their subdivision. We've also taken walks and seen some deer! Yesterday we celebrated Caroline's 2nd birthday a little early (it's actually on Friday). She got a cute new doll from Grandma Ollie. It's her favorite present. We sang happy birthday to her and had some cake that Peder helped make and decorate. He had very specific ideas about decorating of course. It was a very simple birthday celebration, but it was all she could handle. Here are a few pictures. More to come!

Making the Birthday Cake

One of the benefits of having a sibling much younger than Peder is the fact that he got to plan every aspect of the birthday cake. He wanted 1/2 chocolate and 1/2 vanilla. He liked the idea of a marble cake. He also wanted a "spring themed" cake, so he decorated it with a big blue flower and on each bottom corner is a baby face with a ringlet of hair on top.

Gerber Daisies

It was my birthday on the 5th and I turned 38! I love Gerber daisies and these were given to me by one of the sweet teachers I work with (thanks Megan!) and her special ed. preschool class. I'm not a photographer but I'd like to learn more about how to take pictures, so here are my attempts at showing how pretty they were. They also gave me a card and sang Happy Birthday to me (well, some of them are nonverbal but they were there trying). The other class I work with (3 and 4 year olds) gave me a huge bag of chocolate kisses and M&Ms. Yum!

Mark made dinner for me and the family. We haven't gone out for dinner yet, but that's the plan.
