Swim Lessons

This is the 1st year that both kids have had swim lessons. I was really concerned about Caroline since she's not taken to the water and hasn't much experience in it. Ms. Patty has lessons in our neighborhood so it's very convenient.

School's Out for the Summer!

One of the rooms I work in went out to eat the last day of school (our work day). We all deserved it. Although, the teacher (Irene) and I were back on Saturday finishing some paperwork and closing up our work area. Yay summer!

Peder's Detective Birthday Party

For Peder's birthday party we went to the Museum of Nature and History at Fair Park. It was AWESOME! The lady at the museum got the party started by having the kids make their own fingerprints. Then she said that a priceless item had been stolen from the museum. The kids have to solve the mystery through a series of clues left all over the museum. Peder really got into it and was yelling to the kids "Come on, guys, let's go!". After the mystery was solved, we had time for cake.

The kids making their fingerprints.

The mystery unfolds...

Of course, the birthday boy got to read the first clue.

And they were off to solve the mystery!

Another clue!

They're about to solve the mystery.

Peder embarassed that we're singing to him. He actually designed this cake.
I gave the picture to the cake lady and they made this. Not too bad, I think. At least better than
I would have done. On the top right is a magnifying glass. On the bottom left is a gloved hand (use your imagination). The other black things all over the cake are footprints. Peder also wanted "Case Closed" on the cake.

Happy Birthday at Zion

I went to Peder's school to bring birthday treats. Here he is with his fabulous teacher. This will retire this year so Peder was lucky to have her.

Peder's Scrapbook Page

Peder's teacher is retiring after this year. I think she's been teaching for almost 40 years. The kids are each making a scrapbook page for her and the room mom is putting them all together in an album. Peder isn't much for drawing and doesn't think he's very good, so I was pleased when he came up with this on his own.

Neighborhood Friends

The little boy from next door came over this evening while the kids were out playing. I just love the look on his face as he tries to take a turn with the car. Caroline looked at him like "What's your problem?"

I Love Ketchup

Caroline LOVES ketchup. She loves many sauces in fact. The funny thing is that Peder has NEVER liked any sauce of any kind. He only likes pizza with no tomato sauce (cheese only, please). He has his spaghetti with only butter and parmesan cheese. Pancakes only need butter, NO syrup. And burgers need to be PLAIN. Peder's only exception is mac & cheese.

They can't be more different in what they like to eat.

Let me clean myself off a little.

Piano Recital

Peder had an end of year piano recital and he did a wonderful job! He won't admit it though. He received some awards too which was nice. But, some older students received a trophy, so that's what he's working towards for next year!!

Mother's Day Tea 2010

Our Mother's Day Tea was a success this year again. Our circle will donate its proceeds to something special. The decorating is always out of this world. I am amazed at how our church's fellowship hall can be transformed. This year's theme was "Once Upon an Apron" and focused on old stories related to aprons. There are many. Last year's MDT is posted here.

Rainbow

I caught this rainbow as I was leaving a grocery store this evening. It's taken with my iPhone, so the picture doesn't look as good as it was.
